Default ABS Light - Discovery 2

'I replaced all 4 sensors, shuttle valve bypass, replace entire ABS pump with another and still ABS light will not go off. Any suggestions as to what I should be checking next or where the malfunction might be located?

Thanks,

Have you had the ABS codes read? I'm guessing no, since you've thrown that many parts at the problem. Is it just the ABS light that remains on, or are the other two amigos on also (Hill Descent and Traction Control).

It's well known that wheel speed sensor faults are often triggered by faulty connectors rather than the sensors themselves.

In addition to what mln01 has said, the ABS light often won't go out on its own even if the problem causing it has been corrected. You usually need to clear the codes by hand.

Where are you located? If you are in the San Antonio/Austin area I can read and reset the ABS codes for you. I was able to fix mine with a 100.00 code reader and a 28 dollar ABS sensor.

Also, the ABS light does not go off even if the faults have been corrected and the codes cleared until the truck reaches a specified speed (don't recall what that is; maybe 10 mph) so that the SLABS computer can verify signals coming from all four wheel speed sensors.

Hey Josh, what code reader did you buy to clear them? I have a 400$ launch code reader and it wouldn’t even get into the abs controller…. Found the PF abs speed sensor rubbed through

I got the icarsoft i930 from Amazon. It reads and clears ABS codes and Engine codes along with other stuff I don't know how to use. lol.

My mechanic has an OBD scanner that can show the sensor pulses as you roll in or out of the driveway. The ABS system has its own set of codes.

This may not be the correct solution but it could turn your ABS light off

Hi again having watched this video I now see why they jump the wire as this video shows the fault can be a bad contact on the 2 pin connecter and by rewiring it you bypass the 2 pin connector worth a watch, also note the new bit he installed at $800, were doing the top video, it peanuts maybe $2....
