Default weird driveline sound

Hi All,

Since i've owned the D2 there has been a weird driveline sound, see video;

You can hear the sound around 40 seconds, 50 seconds and around 1 minute.
i'm also feeling the click in the pedals and floor, not hard, but it is noticeable.

yesterday the oil is renewed in both diffs, transfer case and the auto gearbox, in all of these there where no metal shaves on the magnets.
Also the u joints of both propshafts were lubricated and the rubber coupling including the bearing is replaced.
The mechanic thinks, also because there are no metal shaves on the magnets, that it could be a worn cv joint.
it sounds like it's coming from the front left side (passenger).
Shouldn't a worn cv joint also make noise when making a left or right turn?

The sound is not present on acceleration, only when cruising between 30-90 km/h and when i let my foot of the gas (not right away, but sometimes after a couple of seconds)
I cannot hear and feel the sound when driving 90km/h and faster.
It also does not matter if the car is cold or warm, no difference.

I've searched and watched a lot of video's, but non of them have the sound that mine is making.

What are your thoughts about this?

My 2015 Gen1 just crossed 40k miles, and ever since I got it, I noticed a metallic thunk noise whenever I accelerate, or let off the accelerator. I assume it is driveline lash. I'm wondering how much lash/sound is normal, and if I should get it checked out at the dealer. (My dealership is Showbox jiofi.local.html tplinklogin fantastic, and has a Volt tech on staff.)

To eliminate the front driveshaft, i removed it.
since it’s a ‘99 i enabled the difflock manually.
i don’t think i need to remove the bolts that hold the front driveshaft to the transfercase, right?
see photo.

another question, can i just gently drive it with only the rear driveshaft? Also 100-120km/h?
just for testing offcourse.

I would recommend putting washers and nuts on those bolts so they don't jam up in something. Yes you can drive it once that is done.

Thanks, i’ll keep that in mind.
just took her for a drive and the sound is still there. Nothing different compared to when the front drive shaft was connected. I have to say, the front driveshaft looks good, no play in u joints, and all looks/feels good.

only thing i noted, abs & tc are now on constantly, perhaps

i think i’ll try the remove the rear shaft and drive with only front connected, and see what happens…

All tips are welcome

Just drove longer than this afternoon, some 80km/h roads and 100km/h roads;

- Just as this afternoon, the click/tick is still present and can be felt in the peddles and floor (drivers position)
---no difference compared to both drive shafts installed.
- Runs much smoother from 50 km/h and faster, I used to have a vibration/resonance from 50km/h and up
---So perhaps there is something wrong with the front drive shaft although it looks and feels good.
- Without front propshaft there is a lot of slack in the drivetrain
--- I can hear a loud clunck when I release my foot from the gas
---I can hear a loud clunck when I poot my foot on the gass
- So there is definitely some slack in either the transfercase or rear diff
---there already was a very light clunck when putting in reverse (with both drive shafts connected) but that clunk is now much louder.

My thought is that removing the front propshaft does not create more slack on the rear diff, it is there or it is not.
I'm getting more and more nervous my problems have something to do with the transfercase...

I'm thinking about putting the car on a bridge at my local garage, lift the rear up and drive on the bridge to try to recreate the clunck I hear while driving at constant speed and to determine where the clunck is coming from while pressing/releasing the gas.

You might want to check the motor mounts and transmission mounts

Wanted to let you know the sound is caused by the ace system, we could reproduce it on a lift.

perhaps a valve clicking very loud. Since ace is working as it should and no errors or dash light warning, i’ll accept the sound for now.

Ok, after our holiday, totally 2500km, the noise is getting louder. I’ve read some posts claiming it’s possible to remove relay14, so i did and the loud clicking noise is gone.

Now off course i have the amber ace warning light on my dash.

is it harmfull to drive like this? Just without the relay? The fuse is still in there.

i hardly notice any difference without the ace system by the way, just a little more ‘wiggling’.
