Default Abs Modulator

Do you need to reset the computer after changing the abs modulator? I had a shop read the codes a while back and said the modulator is bad. So I now have a new one ready to go in.

Thank you,
Willie

Too bad you didn't read Josh's thread on rebuilding the module, would have saved you a fortune.
Were your brakes squeaking, if you throw a panic stop from 30 MPH on a loose surface road, can you feel your ABS pulsate thru the brake pedal, if so, don't replace the old module and get back to me.
Yes, it will need to be reset after you change them out.

I bought a brand new modulator in a vacuum sealed bag for $500 off ebay. The brakes were not squeaking. When I tried a panic stop on wet roads the front tire locked up, no pusating at all. I will have the computer reset.

Thank you,
Willie

Are the part numbers exactly the same, that is way cheaper then Rover cost to the dealers?

Default 2003 DII ABS Modulator Replacement Necessary?

Mike - Thanks for your comments/input. I just had the 3 lights of death come on yesterday. The ABS appears to work but will try the gravel road test this week. IF the brakes work properly, what do you suggest. I see the modulators on ebay, can't afford the LR dealer part but will ask them to install if necessary. Let me know your thoughts. Marc

If the ABS is working then you probably have a shuttle valve fault and need to work on your modulator. If your ABS is not working then that is a good sign it means it may be a sensor or a bad hub. You should get your ABS Codes read.
