Wierd.... the lights come on about 30 seconds after I start the car and when I put it in Drive. I drive with it on till I get to my destination..... the next time I start the car the lights go away.
Why would this happen?

The front brakes are about 85% worn. The rears are 45% worn.

Any advice?

 

Replace your brake pads.

 

My pads were still good. I changed over to an EBC brake kit, new pads, new rotors and SS lines. The problem still occurs. I'm not too worried because it goes away on th enext start up.

 

Check the abs faults. You probably have a shuttle valve electrical supervision failure fault, assuming it is a disco II.(wasn't specified)

 

Do your brakes squeak, did you use lots of sound deadening spray on the back of the brake pads and did you do a full, 3 pint brake bleed when doing your brakes?
As already mentioned, you will need to have someone read your ABS faults to find out for sure. You might go and do a hard stop at 30 MPH plus and see if you can still feel the ABS shutter thru your brake pedal.
