ABS wheel sensors and the 3 Amigos
Many seem to complain of the 3 Amigos without understanding the usual problems/culprits. Apart from the mod to the Wabco modulator Option B or similar there is another issue due to the age of most D2's, it's the connection at the wheel ABS sensors which invariably just needs some electrical contact spray applying and away ya go. You don't need to wire the sensors back to the SLABS unit all you need is some electrical contact spray and half an hour to sort the problems. There are other problems which cause the 3 Amigos like defective wheel sensors with grease on them or worn wheel bearings but these are usually obvious. Most decent diag: tools can direct you via DTA codes and which sensor is faulty and any wheel sensor issues which invariably end up being sensor connection problems.
IMHO... exercising the ABS modulator shuttle valves frequently on a steep hill with hill descent on in low gear will help too.
I've been doing this about every other month on the way home from work and I haven't had the 3 amigos light up in almost a year.

You do want to read the codes, because it's a lot of work if it's something simple, but it's almost certainly the ABS shuttle valve switch. It's located on the bottom of the ABS module under the hood. You can replace it, but then you should cut the ground wire in the plug harness and directly wire it to a ground point. This is known as "option B" and you can search for it here, but it's basically the permanent fix for this stupid problem.
