Sooo I recently got a 96 disco & there is this horrible knocking noise coming from my ac clutch...i think. Someone told me thats what it was & it just needs a washer behind it cause it was recently replaced. How do I go about fixing it? The noise is driving me crazy. Can I do anything to make it not as loud till its fixed?

 

If you hub was replaced and the shim fell out and was not replaced then you need a shim. I got mine from ACE hardware, as I rebuilt my AC hub on my D2 and lost the shim. Just use any washer that will fit all the way into the hub, apply a tiny bit of grease to one side of it so when you install it the grease will act as a temporary glue, and Loctite the bolt in.

 

or just turn off the a/c- problem solved!
