Default ac compressor

I have a 2000 disco II. The ac is cold and wrks normally. I topped it off with the refridge. you buy at the auto parts store. I notice my compressor now cycles on and off constantly. does anybody know what that means. Did I overfill. Also should i take to my rover to my guys and make sure the system has the right amount of refridge. in it. Can the system be damaged with to much in the system. Thanks for all the help. Probably should of left it alone.

Joe

Sounds like you over filled, Did you use one with the little gauge showing the green zone?

To be sure you need a good set of gauges and someone who knows how to use them.

If it was working normally before, then yes you probably have too much refrigerant now. The compressor turns until the switch trips on hi pressure, then the compressor stops for a few seconds, the pressure on the high side drops, the comp comes on again, and on and on....

I would get it back to normal before you use the AC. Your rover guys could do it in short order if there are no other issues.
