AC Recharge Advice for my 01 D2 SE7
01 Disco II
SE7
V8 4.0
166 K (103,147 Miles)
OK so my A/C needs to be recharged, I have done some research and would like to make sure this will work before I move forward
here is the kit I want to buy
RED TEK A/C Refrigerant Recharge Kit | Canadian Tire
will I be able to re-charge my AC system with this?
I have found in the past for some reason the 01 DII's have allot of proprietary parts.
Thanks in advance

As mentioned, you need R134a, not R12. ANd spend a few dollars more and get a real gauge set.
Here's my tutorial on charging AC which I made so I didn't have to repeat it 15 times a year this time of year.

I have to admit I have never seen "A direct replacement and retrofit option for R134a and R12 refrigerants for automotive air conditioning systems" before.
I think in the fine print you will find that you can use it to replace either one or the other, but i have never heard of anything that can be mixed with them. in other words in order to use it you may have to drain your system completely, pull a vaccum and refill the system with this product. 134a should be available in canada, I thought you people had even better EPA laws than we did down here. Your truck originally came with 134a.

The difference is that it is a non azeotrope blend that you won't ever be able to recharge properly because the gases escape at different rates.
Looks like you need a certification to get R134a in Canada, not unlike getting R-12 in the states. Not sure what to tell you there, other than to get real R-134, whether that means getting cert (it's a $25 online process here) or going to a garage.
If you use the "replacement" stuff not only won't it cool as well, but if you need to top off again you'll either lose even MORE cooling capacity or have to vac the entire system to replace it with real R-134a or a full load of the substitute.
