So you're saying it will essentially bleed itself and I don't need to use a computer?
I noted today that the fluid in the ACE reservoir was totally stagnant while running. I had emptied and refilled the reservoir but I don't think the new fluid is actually going anywhere. It's been 200 miles and I think it's still the same fluid i put in sitting up there.

Obviously it isn't going to bleed it the pump is not working
And it will self bleed small amounts of air by itself. Not an advisable option for evacuating a complete system... Your pump should be circulating fluid

you can get a used pump for $250 with a 1-years warranty and i believe if will have to be bleed. the reason i say that is my hawkeye has a ACE bleed mode.

So, forgive me if it sounds rude, but what I'm hearing is that no one actually knows how to bleed an ace system, except maybe discomike who is MIA. And That the procedure likely involves using a computer to control things. So I'll need to have my local shop do it. And since I shouldn't install it and drive without bleeding, I actually need to have the shop do it. Is this where we are at?

I have bleed both ways. I have replaced every component of ace. Including pump and valve block . Computer bleed is best and easiest. Small amounts of air will self bleed.
But call mike, I don't know what I'm talking about.

UPDATE:
After all that, the shop was wrong. As a side project I was doing the alternator and belt. I went ahead and did the idlers and tensioner as well.
One of those was the culprit. I think the one by the ace pump; it sounded very dry when spinning by hand.
So the noise is gone! And I didn't have to replace my ACE pump. I would have been pissed if I let them do the $1300 service to fix it and it was still there, especially since it was a $20 part!
That being said, I've learned a lot, thanks all.
