Tell them it is still working fine. It is putting pressure where it needs to be putting pressure. It is just making a noise. Like a bypass noise. It's like it relieves itself, loudly.

I have ACE in my DII, and yes, it makes a hiss noise, usually when getting out as my weight/passenger weight is removed from the truck. Pretty sure it's normal.

I too like my ACE, truck corners amazingly flat. Would also like some tips on maintaining the system, but other than a bad airbag I have had no problems with it in the 2 years I have had my Disco....knocking on wood as I type.

Mine is hissing without weight removal. And btw "hiss" is a much better descriptive, than "peuw"

If people put as much time and effort into maintaing their ace system as they do with off-road mods then less people would be complaining about it! The system is not possessed and likely to fail all by it self, unless you neglect to keep it serviced like everything else on a vehicle or machine. You dont change the oil on time then your engine will eventually fail, if you dont replace the thermostat and cooling system hoses then eventually your engine will overheat and fail. ACE is no different. Disco Mike and the two members in this thread all us it will little issues so. I'm still envious of the members who have the pleasure of enjoying it......

Do folks with the hiss noise have the self-leveling suspension (SLS) in addition to ACE? I get the brief hiss noise when weight is removed from my Disco and I always assumed it was the SLS reducing the vehicle height to compensate for the reduced weight. My SE7 wasn't built with ACE and the noise sounds similar to the (normal) air suspension purge noise on my Jaguar.

I have ACE and really like it. I test drove a D1 before buying my D2 and almost swore I'd never own something that handles like that. I also do not see many posts here re: ACE issues.

That being said, my ACE system makes a loud clicking from the valve block around 25 MPH. I think it has something to do with the pressure in the system since at this particular part of my drive I am lightly on and off the throttle. It has done this for several years. I checked the filter, was clean. I have even spent time with Disco Mike on the phone and did the suggested flush.

The only way I can get the noise to go away is to remove the ACE fuse. I like this system, and even though I have just spent time and money on tires and a lift, I would not like the truck if it handled like a D1 without ACE.

A d1 and d2 have completely different rear suspension. They don't handle all that similarly even without ace. The d2 has rear radius arms and a watts link while the d1 has trailing arms and an upper a-arm.

funny, I originally thought that it was the sls, but I have removed such components, over the past few years.

Ace is always noisier under the hood. when you last changed your fluid did you use a good quality power steering fluid? and did you add the Lucus power steering additive?
Yes you can change the filler or clean it, I did not see anything terrible in my filter.
the purpose of the power steering additive is to maintain the seal and valves in the ACE system.
