Default adding a little more power to brakes

I'm just not happy with the brake power of the Disco. I've already replaced the Rotors with drilled and slotted ones from iRotors (OEM pads), I have to say that this was a really nice upgrade, I can tell an improvement but it's still not good enough. Any ideas?

Left to my own I'd be looking at:
New steel braided lines
Different fluid?
Upgraded Master cyl
Upgraded calipers

Ideas?

the new lines might do a little, if your pedal feels spongy, but a dishwasher coming in just under 3 tons does not stop like a Freelander. I have not seen an upgrade kit for D1's that would allow for larger rotors. They wouldn't fit in the 16's anyway. Might see if someone knows of better pads. I run OEM myself, but I have heard people talk about other ceramic pads on here...

Good luck!

Are all the Discos stocked with soft brake pedals? I thought it was just mine. Disco II by the way... Can it be fixed or tightend?

I'm going to put on some heavy duty billet calipers next time I need to do brakes, I'll post something once it's done. It's not a cheap upgrade (~2000$) but should give about 60% better brake feel/power. Changing the master cylinder is the next option if it is not enough. I'd love to put on bigger discs but that will depend on clearance, I still want to be able to run 16" rims.

Change the fluid - I went to synthetic when I put Mintex red pads on mine - made a huge difference.

How'd you like the Mintex pads vs OEM?

PS. I kept hearing from my dealer buddies not to do aftermarket rotor as I would see an ABS error light (already had the damn light error before the brake job, they couldn't get rid of it and said wait till I put on new OEM rotors). I bought rotors from iRotor on eBay for about $220 for a set of 4!!! About 3k miles already and no error light, i guess it really was from rotors being too thin. These rotors look good and as I said they feel better than the OEMs.

Feelings on synthetic fluid brand?

If you want your truck to stop better, replace the rubber hoses with stainless steel, replace your pads with Kevlar pads from Rover Connection and if you feel your brakes fading when hot switch to Vavoline's synthetic brake fluid with a complete flush.
I did all these thing when I switched to DBA rotors which are by far the best rotors on the market.
Good luck,
Mike
