It will take a few tanks (drive cycles) for the adaptive values to catch up so be patient.
I remember back when I was a noob I used AM/PM premium which even though they say it is top tier is not. Its cheap. My mechanic had to dig into the injectors to clean them out and brought me into the shop to see the results of cheap gas. I was scolded and schooled and have since used nothing but name brand premium. Ethanol free premium where its available for a reasonable price is even better.
Also buying cheap gas for these is a false economy. You get worse mpg and it runs crappier and leads to extra maintenance costs so really you aren't saving anything in the long run.
Gas should not be as random as it is but it drives me nuts, we have 4 grades of fuel here running from 87 to 94 Octance with labels indicting they "may" contain varying amounts of ethanol from 15% to 0%. And those are the main stream stations, Chevron, Shell ,Esso etc
I've never given it much thought before, but interestingly Petrol (or Gas as it is called over here) is classed as premium when its 93 octane but in the UK the lowest grade of fuel (and mostly only option) is 95 Which I guess is why I've never been bothered about putting premium in as I thought low grade was just fine. I used to get free contaminated fuel back home, from my brothers work (mechanic shop) it was a mixture of petrol and diesel. When someone had filled up the wrong fuel they would drain the tank and store it up. "Jungle Juice" we used to call it. ran my for transit on it no problem at all. that and veg oil.
Anyway these landys are a little more refined i guess. Ill see how she acts with a couple of tanks of name brand premium.
