Got the genuine 180 stat in from roversnorth today and finally got it installed a little while ago.

Warmed the engine in the driveway, then went for a short jaunt on the interstate with ambient temps in the low 60s. Going up a hill at 60mph I never went past 185. Most I hit was 188 sitting at a light and idling in the garage for a couple min afterwards.

Noticed the hoses are much firmer than with the motorad and the coolant bottle was venting. Lower hose was much closer in temp to the upper hose as well.

4500 Mile update

I dont know why, but the P0305 code is very rare now. Maybe comes on 1-2 times per week, if that.

2 days of the genuine grey 180 stat has yielded some wierd results. You can definitely tell it opens more and/or earlier than the motorad.

Going to work in the morning in 65* weather, Ill be 186-190 with maybe a nip of 194.

Sitting in a slow drivethru line in 75* weather with A/C on, it stayed at 194.

Going home in rush-hour in 75-80* weather with A/C on, temps stay in the 190s for a while, then will eventually climb to 208. After A/C is shut off, temps will drop again to the 194-197 range.

I may get a different radiator next summer (current is Silla), but Im thinking current setup will be more than fine through the winter up here, knock on wood.

X2 on the winter wait. Ambient temps make a big deal with my tired radiator.

are you still getting code? have you recently looked at plugs? for obvious fouling?
heater core has never given issue? slow the flow type bidness?

just thinking, aloud.

No code for about a week.

Havent checked the plugs.

If I turn off the radio I can hear a faint flow sound from the core, but my heat works fine.
