I used long stainless screws into the metal tabs that clips attach to. I have to remove mine one day to do some clean up and I will do a write up but the screws need to go in at a slight angle and you need 3.

If I remember correctly, it helps to lift/prop the hood up a bit. My foggy brain is thinking that anyway! lol
