Default Aftermarket coil pack?

P0308 misfire on cylinder #8. Previously had a P0305 misfire on cylinder #5. Haven't seen #5 misfire in 2 weeks. Have had 1-2 #8 misfires in the last week. Ignition tester light shows weak spark in #8 wire.

1) I ordered new Kingsbourne 8mm wires to replace #5 and #8. The wires are only 3 months old.

2) To be safe, I was thinking of replacing the 1 coil pack that #5 and #8 are on. O'Reilly has a complete aftermarket coil pack for $63.

Import Direct Ignition 23-0134 - Ignition Coil | O'Reilly Auto Parts

They also have a single coil, Bosch for $71

Bosch 00136 - Ignition Coil (New) | O'Reilly Auto Parts

Anyone familiar with the aftermarket complete coil pack?

Thoughts?

While you're in there just replace them both. If one is bad, the other is going to go relatively soon. Unlike O2 sensors, the cheapest coils you can find on eBay actually work perfectly! I've been running a set for a little over 10k miles now with no issues. I'm sure the Import Direct will work just as well, but I think I paid in the ballpark of $40 each on eBay.

I'm sorry, make that $40 for the set. Here's the link. Ignition Coil Pair Set of 2 for Land Rover Discovery Range Rover | eBay

Anyone else get that bittersweet feeling after a trip to a place like Harbor Freight? Yesterday I got 2, 6-ton ramps, creeper, wobble socket extensions, flare wrench set, gear oil hand pump, safety glasses, gloves, ignition wire tester, flex head socket -- stuff to fix my ignition issue and brake job and fluid changes.

yay - new tools!

On the flip side - just dropped $180 on tools! LOL

Justifying by saying how much I'll save doing it myself. :-)

Haha, every time I go. But I do love new toys to play with. I need a chop saw and a new angle grinder next. Then I can start work on building a bumper and sliders.

Yea, I've had one of the cheap ones. Accidentally broke it myself, it wasn't even its fault, but I've heard they eat themselves. I've also heard the slightly more expensive red one is actually pretty solid.

Good to know, I'll remember that for sure the next time I make it to HF.
