Cool, my supply of ideas is just about at its limit. I'd like know if it will work without the adapter but at the same time I hope it doesn't so I don't feel like I wasted 30 bucks.

nope still nothing... i guess i will have to buy that other adapter... tomorrow i am gonna double check and make sure that the deck is actually putting out sound... it was working fine when i took it out of my 350z but you never know it could be bad for some reason...

A power probe sounds kind of painful. I think that would definitely leave a mark.

I would think that if the deck worked when it was removed, provided it didn't get wet or otherwise damaged while in storage, it should still work. You can use your test light and see if there is a signal at the speaker outputs. If it lights up you have output. It may vary in brightness based on the test signal but it will light up if there is a signal.
