Default Air conditioner clutch replacement.

Hello, I have a 2000 Discovery Series 2. I have had an issue with my air conditioner lately. When I'm driving around it blows cold air, but when I'm sitting still at a red light or something, the air goes warm. And as of late every now and then while driving, it'll go warm, and something will smell like its burning. The smell seems to be coming from the front of the conditioner compressor. So I'm thinking of replacing the compressor, but I was wondering if it's possible to just replace just the clutch? If anyone has attempted or know if it's even possible, please chime in and give me your 2 cents. Thank you.

Certainly possible, I've done a couple of them. You have to get the clearance right on the clutches though by stacking shims and they don't last very long if you get it wrong. I generally don't think it's worth the effort and just replace the compressor.
