Why is that on there? I took mine off and the truck seems to get better throttle responce, and more SOTP power at all RPM levels...

 

Did you mean air intake silencer? It basically lowers the intake noise and helps in preventing the air filter to be clogged, but the vehicle's performance is sacrificed. So by removing such, you'll notice a slight increase horsepower and air flow.
