Leaking rear seals
I own a 99 Discovery I and have started a significant oil leak. The bottom of the disco is covered in oil. I crawled under to see that the oil pan and plug is ok. Tranny is all wet. Signs to me that it is the rear seals. I prefer to do it myself and have skills and time to do it right. Just not to familiar with proceedures on this one. Any help? I am too cheap to buy a shop manual. Quickly, it's starting to snow. Say ya to da up, heh!
Thats a good size job, is it something you can do at home? Go you have a floor jack to handle the tranny and t/case?
If so, I would suggest you inspect and replace all the other seals fron the front tranny thru the t/case as needed while you have it apart.
Other wise it is not a technicly difficult repair.
Good luck
Mike
