Default Air Ride Suspension.

OK, my 2000 Disco II has an air ride suspension issue. When I'm driving, no problem. When I shut off the truck and get out, it drops in about a minute. But only about once every 15 or 20 times. But, when I park it and it doesn't drop, it seems fine for days, sometimes weeks.

Could there be some type of relief valve or something like that that's malfunctioning ??

Could be a leak, could be a bad height sensor.
With the back all the way up take a bottle of soapy water and crawl under the back and move hoses around and spray the soapy water and look/listen for leaks.

Then when your tired of messing with it buy this and be done with it once and for all.

I just got an '04 HSE, and it's doing the exact same thing. Sometimes it will drop as soon as you get out of the car, other times it will be fine for a couple days. Just now when I got out of it, I could hear it letting air out, then it stopped halfway down. So, I figure if it were a bag, it would leak all the way down every time you get out of the car. Something like this must be a sensor.

I've read several threads on here that suggest just swapping out to springs. Some say the ride is the same, others not. My wife and kids are in this car most of the time, so comfort is kind of important. I'd like to hear some opinions, if the ride with the bags is a 10, what would you say the ride with the springs is?

Sorry for the minor redirect on the thread, but I'm curious.

Thanks

jon40, I don't really know how I would characterize the relative comfort. Certainly two very different rides. I also like the self level function of the air springs. I've replaced both bags if/when they leak again, I'll replace them with the same. I also have a standard coil spring DII.

My wife prefers the coil springs if she's driving. In her words "I like to feel the road rather than floating around".

I have driven both coil spring and SLS DII's and I overwhelmingly prefer the air bags, especially since I live in DC with the crappy roads around here.

I'm a street driver, not an off roader like a lot of the regular posters here.
