I am about to send my truck to airborne school! I have seen this question posted before, hopefully this might become a stickey and get into detail....

I have the ever popular and dreaded 13,14 and 16 codes. Took it to a mechanic (dealership) and they gave me an estimate (10k - smoking crack they are) and a list of things to fix. I replaced the 02 sensors (all four), both cats (a new system form AB), coil pack (s), belt (drive), plugs, wires and filters. Still have the problem and codes. grrrrrr.

It has the intermitent sputtering problem I hear all the cool rides are getting these days. Just driving along, minding my own buisness and poof, crappy responce, crappy accelaration, crappy sounds. Like the motor is under stress/load. I can give it gas and get hardly a reaction....so I will continue driving, as this usually happens in a buisy intersection, and suddenly....well, more like progressively, the problem will go away and respond as it should, untill I come to another stop sign or light.

Any ideas? Mike????

 

When was the last time you replaced your fuel filter? What gas are you using? Try changing brands. You are using premium, right? Sometimes its as easy as a different gas station.

 

I just replaced the fuel filter as well. Premium fuel with sea foam.

 

I would change gas stations next and see what happens.
After that I would check the fuel pump.

 

I will do that next. I just put in 10 gal. today, it was on ampty ( or close to it) and all the sea foam hasmostly cycled through by now. I will run it till its about 1/4th and fill up at chevron (unless there is a better sugestion) and see how it goes from there.

 

Wait until the low fuel light comes on. Chevron is good, I use Shell but we dont have Chevron's around here.

 

Thats another problem, I am sure unrelated, the low fuwl indicator is in-op. it only comes on when the truck is started, then goes off the same time as the 'check engine light' does. I think the entire guage thing is broke, all other guages work just fine though.

 

Have you ever ran it that low? Maybe this is all related and your fuel pump it going bad.

 

hmm, could be. I will have to check it out in the morning. Could it be the cam/crank position sensor?

 

Could be, doubt it though. Usually when the cranksensor goes bad the trk just wont run.
