I might be inclined to use machine screws with nyloc nuts instead of threading into the plastic.

Default Got it done this afternoon. Easy Peasy

Works as well as the original clips. Couldnt find my Dremel,...so ended up using my 4" angle grinder to remove the excess old clip mounts. A bit of hand filing,....and,....I had slight gaps around the O-ring in the two areas where the old clips tore away from the lid. All Good now. Thanks for the great tip Madlands

One caution. The new inboard clip/hasp is very nearly touching the radiator overflow coolant recovery line. It's still the original black plastic tubing,....which....if you have ever tried to remove any of the black plastic tubing,.....you know,...it just breaks. It is VERY brittle.

I would recommend rotating the MAF a bit so that the inboard clip point is lower/well clear of the radiator coolant recovery black plastic line. That will make the outboard clip/hasp a bit higher than it originally was,....but that should not be an issue in any way.

Glad I could be of some help. I hope it continues to work for you. You are right about the clip being close to the coolant line and your idea to rotate the MAF sounds like it could work pretty well. I replaced the radiator not too long before doing this and swapped the lines to all rubber hose so I wasn't taking the lines being brittle into consideration.
