alarm going off for no apparent reason?
Greetings....'99 d2 w/ 120k miles
The wife has informed me that our disco's alarm went off three times out in the parking lot of her work.
Will a disco alarm system honk the horn for a bit, then go off, and then honk the horn again after a while..........and so on?
My wife relates that the horn started honking three different times. Actually She said,"the alarm has gone off three times".She stated the hazards were flashing during this. She unlocked the vehicle and said the red indicator light was flashing rapidly until she started the vehicle. I know the rapidflashing red light is normal after an activation as I have played with the alarm a bit in the past to test its operation. I asked her if there was a possiblilty of something in the vehicle falling over after she parked it, thereby setting off the motion sensor. She said no. During my testing of this alarm system I have violently shaken the vehicle in an attempt to activate the alarm and was not able to do so.
I'm wondering if someone was tampering with the vehicle of course....no broken windows.
Any thoughts? (it's 15 degrees in the shade around here today)
Right now she has left the vehicle unlocked for fear of a malfunction happening when she does not have time to go outside to reset it again.
Thanks
Doug

Did she have her window open, if so that will trip the ultra sonic sensor inside the truck. If no then, the next most common issue is a hood switch that may be out of adjustment.

That will most likely be your problem. I left mine open one night in my car port, a month, which I later found, flew in and tripped the alarm.
