Default alarm/immobiliser hassle, please help

Hi all,my name is craig and i amnew to landrover ownership, and after only 1 day of having my `96 300 tdi disco,I need help!!!!

Boughtit yesterday, and was really pleased with it until this morning, got up early to do some work on it, pressed remote as usual, to unlock, and nothing!, tried numerous times, and still nothing, so opened the door with the key, and alarm went off (prob waking up my neighbours) ,also thecar was immobilised, went and got a new battery for remote, and same again.
I disconnected the siren, while i checked all the door switches were ok, reconnected, and tried again, same result, i am really cheesed off about this, as its now just laid up ouside my house.was chuffed to bits yesterday when i was driving it around, had allsorts planned, but now deeply fed up with it, so please, pleasecan anyone help me?, any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance

If you have a siren, it is not a factory system and you may be in real trouble.
