It replaces the stock aluminium cover on the bottom of the 230 transfer case only with this heavy duty finned sump cover. It increases oil capacity and aids in cooling the entire drive train. Plus you can install a sending bulb for a temperature sensor.
I have exactly that same one fitted but don't use a gasket, it'll leak, just Hylomar sealant and stainless cap head screws and washers. It also takes an extra 0.5 litres of oil in the LT230.
AliSport make some very high quality LR parts but you'll pay a lot for them, they aren't cheap.
