I have an 04 had a battery light solid so test alternator and it was bad. In my case the bracket has a clear through crack on the the connection hole on front side behind the pulley the front one was fine. Not sure if this caused the failure or not but had a small squeal in belt even after replacing alternator. The crack wasn't visible til you actually loosened the bolts. That broken part fell off I didn't use it. (If I should until I get a replacement bracket anyone have input?) But this thread with pics helped me find the locations of all bolts as other posts just explained it and the posted pics were so old they were no longer active. I just have to get a tool to remove the tensioner bolt as it's rounded. Update still tuning good even with broken bracket.
