Default Spike555 or anyone else (alternator) almost out

ok so I have the belt off and the two bolts out of the alternator. Trouble is that the thing is in there tight as can be no give whatsoever. Anyone know why? I had found a step by step visual explanation but lost it, if anyone knows about that, maybe it would help. Thanks in advance.

if it's wedged in there between the bracket it might take a little prying to get it out.

Yup, if you have all the bolts out and the belt off wiggle it, tap one side down with a hammer, be gentle as not to crack it, but remember, it has been in there for a long time.
You disconnected the battery right?
