It can be fixed for around $100 and you'll have to remove the alternator, fix it, then replace it. There isn't a safe way to fix your existing one.
Or, you could just buy a new higher performance alternator, which is what I'd suggest, since it's actually less work, and rebuilt one (if money is an issue) is only about 50% more cost than. you trying to fix your existing one, and it is less time consuming.
My original alternator literally failed because the same piece broke connection while driving, so yours may have already been damaged.
