Default Alternator Replacement

Alternator is dead. I've disconnected all my cables, and removed the two bolts from the support bracket. It will not budge. What am i missing? TIA

Get a screwdriver and move the little spacers that are holding the alternator firmly in the bracket. It is possible to use a bar to pry alt up and out, but releasing the pressure from those spacers or whatever they are called will allow easy removal.

I assume you mean the bushing like things in the bolt holes?

They need to be moved only a little, and will move back in place when tightened

Hate to drag this out. Do I tap them inwards, or pull them outwards. They wont budge.

Just use a beefy screwdriver or pry bar and lever it out. Hammer your pry-device a bit if neccessary.

Spray a little bit of rust-buster or other penetrating oil on the bushings as they have a tendency to freeze in place. You should be able to carefully pry the alternator out after the bushings soak for a bit. You will have to work the alternator back-and-forth. Once the alternator is out you can use a pair of Channel-Lock pliers and a socket with the open end positioned on the front of the alternator bracket to squeeze the bushings out before reinstalling the new or rebuilt alternator.
