aluminum body?
I was told long ago when i bought my 1st disco that the body is all aluminum except the roof. That made sense because after a while there was some rust around the upper rear windows on the roof but I never had a trace anywhere else. By the way, I live on the oceanfront so rust is always lurking...waiting to get its cancerous fingers on my cars.
I just bought a newer disco (98) and noticed a smalldime sized bubbly spot on the rear door. Rust? on the body? Alum.? Was I wrong all this time about the alum? and If they are alum shouldn't they get better mileage? Whats the scoop?

I dont think the doors are aluminum because they can hold a magnet (as can the roof) and the rest of the car can't, since aluminum isnt magnetic. I know this because I used to have a NC State logo magnet on the door, because thats the only place the magnet would stick! I'm pretty sure the rest is aluminum, someone else can back that up. Oh yeah, the side doors are the only ones, not the back door. Hope thats helps a little! (I have a DII so I'm just guessing they are the same as DI material wise)
The very first LR was made from aluminum because that was all the metal that could be found in England after World War II. It was left over aircraft aluminum and they have held the tradition for over 50 years.
