Anti-lock problem

Anti-lock problem
My anti-lock light comes on intermitantly, and while I've typically ignored it in the past, as nothing has seemed to be wrong (I read on previous forum threads that an error light was a common problem that wasn't of serious concern) some things have happened recently that are definitley concerning. In the past couple of weeks I've experiend a distict noise and slippage when applying the breaks. It happened once two weeks ago and occured again 5 days later and most recently today. Does anyone have any experience with this type of problem?
Thanks,
Brent

RE: Anti-lock problem
A couple of questions outside of the usual year, mileage, service history? Has the vehicle had any recent brake system work?
You may have to get the vehicle to a shop with a Autologic, or equiv. scanner to see what codes (if any) are stored. The noise you are mentioning sounds like...what?

RE: Anti-lock problem
The front brake pads were replaced about 16 months ago. I recently had the from driver side CV joint replaced too. The problem has been present for some time now. The noise I hear can best be described as a "whirring" noise and is immediatley followed by the front brakes "locking" up, briefly. I noticed it most often in the past when I would break over wet leaves when parking in front of my old house.

RE: Anti-lock problem
What year and model truck are you driving?
If the problem happend shortly after having the CV work done, it is possible they damaged or knocked the speed sensor out of wack.
As already mentioned, you really need to get it into a shop that can diagnois the problem properly with the right scanner.
