Default Anybody?

So I'm taking off the top of the air filter box to replace it, and made contact with the small diameter hose that is on the top left of the radiator. Now, when I put any kind of pressure on it, it spews coolant. Ideas?

That is a return line to thr coolant recovery tank.
The plastic gets bad overtime and wil break.
You can order a replacement from Atlantic British or replumb with fuel/heater hose.
I think is a 3/8"ID.

Anyone else made this repair with fuel hose? Just curious.

I snapped mine off doing the exact same thing. For a temp fix I did go out and buy a piece of the black hose. I don't remember the size but it did work. I don't know how long it would have lasted. The smell from the hose is definately noticeable in and outside the truck. So you can use the hose but I would only use it as a temp fix untill you can order the right one. Also when replacing that hose you should replace the other plastic one as it is probably as brittle as the one that snapped.

There is nothing wrong with using rubber hose, just make sure that you clamp it at both ends.
Fuel line, vacuum line, whatever you can get, should only cost you a few bucks.

Thanks for the replies. I took the safe route and ordered the correct hose from BP. May do the temp fix anyway as it won't be here until Monday.

OK, so I'm borrowing my daughters car to go to the auto parts store for a piece of hose. The install looks straight forward enough, BUT, my question is, after I finish, anything else I need to do. I lost very little coolant, less than half a cup I would guess.

Just top off expansion tank to full line. I ran the hose over the top of the radiator cowl and used 2 wire ties (reuseable type) to clamp to the upper radiator hose. That way I was sure it wouldn't flop around and get caught in fan, belt, etc.

I am going to order a replacement, but need to put together a list of other stuff I want to do first, to save on shipping.

The throttle body is by-passed as well. Have bought the replacement already (should have bought BOTH at the same time!), but can't seem to find a 5.5mm socket anywhere!

Ok, back in action. Man, that entire original hose was brittle as hell. Kinda glad I broke it. Throttle body bypassed? Explain.
Thanks for the help.

There are 2 little lines running to the throttle body for a heater so the intake temp is relatively the same temperature and your butterfly doesn't freeze. This is a common place for D2's to leak and the dealer has a kit to fix pretty easily if it ever starts leaking.

I would suggest checking those, or all for that matter. Don't want another one blowing going down the road.
