I had to replace the intake gasket and Plug wires to get rid of the codes,.....no easy job and ridiculously expensive at the LR dealer,....but better than doing head gaskets which I had to do on my prior Disco. Once I got those things done and replaced the front brake rotors and pads, and rebuilt both driveshafts (was chasing a vibration,....this did not fix it),...and later replaced the E brake drum which fixed my vibration. The truck actually turned out to be a very reliable and solid truck and I think I had somewhere between $1500 and $2000 in it at that point. Fuel mileage is 12 mpg for general running around, and 15 on the highway if driven at posted limits. I just ordered a EGR Purge valve, hoping that will take care of my 1450.
Good luck, enjoy the pain! Owning a rover is a love/hate thing, and I wont be back. l lost about 9000 cash on mine, including what I paid for it and all the crap I replaced on it and the guy I gave it too put over $3000 in it for head gaskets and a little work on the coolant system, never even made it to the 3 amigos problem! And he sold it, all he could get for it (running and with good ac) was $1300. I appreciate all the help I ever received from these great people on this site, but the 99 Dodge Ram 4x4 with 155000 miles I replaced it with has held up fine for almost 3 years with only a radiator installed and distributor cap/plugs/plug wires. And dodge parts are 1/64 of the price of LR parts!! I'll take that all day long!!!

Did anyone ever try a new (or used) DMTL pump? I imagine a used one would be nearly free, since a new one is only $140.

Update on mine,....new purge valve did not improve it,....put a new OE gas cap on and it did not help,...somehow managed to pass inspection last year.....but another one coming up next month, and I just got a 1450 again.

What / Where is the DMTL pump? Haven't done a smoke test yet

Any other suggestions?

There's a component diagram showing a pump in manual?

Evaporative emission system (with
positive pressure leak detection)
component layout (NAS only)
......
