Default Anyone have any good links for suspension installation?

I need to do my shocks and springs. I have not read through the Rave CD yet but does anyone have any links to past threads on shocks and spring installation? I am especially looking for tips on how to jack up the car, special tools and whatnot (I don't have a lift and don't have access to one that a Disco will fit on).

NOT yet. I did however install some spacers a while back and took pics. It might help a bit. (spacer no longer installed)

The easiest way is to jack it up far enough that when you place jack stands under the frame rails and lower the jack that the springs will dislocate. Then you don't need a spring compressor.
You'll need probably 6 Ton jack stands for that, but they are a lot more useful overall than a spring compressor.

x2. Spring compressor sucks esp when you dont need them. I used them when installing the spacer and didnt when removing the spacer.

This was my post from 2 months ago:

There are pictures and some discriptions of what I did and any issues. I did use the spring compressors but also the LR bottle jack helped to really lift the chasis away from the axles.

Hope that helps but PM me if you need any other questions answered.

Great link jycsalas, I see Lucky8 is using the fancy lift jack. Are the steps similar if convention floor jacks and jack stands are used?

So, I would assume not to put the jack stands on the axle so we can lower the axle to release the springs? So there's really no need for spring compressors since you can get the spring out by lowering the axle by disconnecting the sway bar? And vice versa putting the new ones in.

It seems doable. This is something I am looking forward to in the next few months.

Yeah I didnt use the spacers for that reason. I was able to just lower the axle and I didnt even think about disconnecting the sway bar so it should be even easier. I was very close to getting lucky 8 OME setup but I am going to have to put it on hold for a while. I was planning on making a very nice write-up for those diy'ers just starting out with rovers. (like me).

So hopefully someone else does one
