ARP Studs, what torque to you stop at?
I have my new kit of ARP studs for my head gaskets job (amongst other things)
ARP used to recommend 100 ft-lbs but that was considered way too high. The instructions in my kit say 20, then 50, then 70.
Is that ok? Did you guys pull threads doing that? All my bolts came out as easy as head bolts can come out and the threads are all fine.
What do you think?
I'm doing the cam bearings tonight, then new camshaft in there and then I will start putting the heads back on so I'm still a few days away
Thanks
David

I watched the Atlantic British youtube video before I did my ARP studs and they went to 85 ft pounds on the nuts!
I didn't have the guts for that. I *really* didn't want to crack the heads or strip threads in the block.
I went to 81 ft pounds.
Probably 60 ft pounds and up would hold, I bet.
*the best tip in that video above is to use a 3/6" hex wrench with no torque to screw in the studs with loctite prior to installing and torquing the nuts

After lots of research, I went with 60 ft/lbs. That was three years and thousands of miles ago. If interested, see my thread from Feb 2015.

Im curious how your heads are holding up?
I just put my heads back together and torqued to 70 ft pounds and it's leaking antifreeze from the back corner of the head.. should I pull the valve covers and torque it more? Heads were machined flat and block checked out... gaskets are on metal side up.. I followed torque sequence
