Alright aside from the lame title, I have a serious question.
I am looking at getting into a discovery. Im looking at 03-03 SE's. And, as i know nothing about the discos in terms of reliability, I thought Id ask the forum-dedicated owners. Is there anything I should look out for? Is this thing going to be breaking down on me a lot? These were the ford years after all, Haha. But I appreciate any information, thanks alot guys.

03's had oil pump issues..
Some of the blocks had a flaw in the casting, so the pump didnt line up right and failed after 40-50k

Somewhere in this forum there is a list of vin numbers effected, I tried to search for you but didnt find it.. Perhaps we should make that thread a Sticky at the top of the forum as it would prove to be a valuable resource to many..

I wouldnt buy a '03.
Get a '02 or '04.
Problems that you will have are the "3 amigos", coolant leaks, blown head gaskets around 80k, cruise control not working, power window regulators and power door lock actuators and the crank sensor.
The "3 amigos" could be anything from a free fix to a $1,000.
Most coolant leaks can be avoided, a leaking throttle body heater plate is very common and is a easy and cheap DIY fix.
Once you get the head gaskets fixed you will be good for the rest of your life. Try and get one that has already had them done.
Cruise control is a easy DIY fix.
Power window regulators are again a DIY fix, alittle more work but can be done in a day.
Door lock actuators same thing, under $100 DIY.
The crank sensor is a DIY fix, under $100 and takes about a hour or less depending on your skill and how many times you throw the wrench across the garage.
You MUST use premium gas.
Thats about it.
