Default engine swap gurus

I own an 03 disco with valve nosie on idle, and it doesnt bother me at all but the wife goes nuts everytime she hears it, anyway at my work we just had an 04 rnage that just got totaled by our insurance company my boss son doesnt know how to drive and long story short , insurance company is paying off the car and we have the option to keep the truck. Now has it ever been done to do a power train swap from an 04 rover to my 03 discovery? any inputs and advice, is it worth it for me to go through this headache if im getting the trucks powertrain for free? Any input is Greatly appreciated.

No, it wont work.
It has the Jaguar engine and the Disco has a Buick engine.
If it mates up to the trans then you can also swap the ECU but I dont think it will mate to the trans.
Not to mention the tourqe output of the RR is more than the Disco so I dont think the driveline will handle it.

No swap from the new RR to Disco as the RR has a 4.4L BMW motor and the Disco has a 4.6L old type motor that was used for years.

Why go through such an expense, to swap an engine, why not fix the noise?

mike,
ive been asking local mechanics that i deal with, pretty much the consensus is buy a used engine instead of opening this one up because the labor cost, parts and time consumed would still amount to replacing the whole engine, unless you have any suggestions or reccommend a rover mechanic that will not charge me an arm and a torso thats located here in long island ny that can fix and diagnose the problem i only have 67000 miles on this truck i love there is no compression loss its just that damn ticking noise even my boss is riding me about it.
thanks for the input guys.
