Default Automatic will not shift

Hey there any ideas why my 98 Discovery will not shift out of park.
Thanks,

Check out the switch located on the rear of the brake pedal. It completes a circuit saying the brake is on and allows you to shift out of park. Is your brakelight on when you press the brake?

The switch can be jumpered to complete the circuit. I have read where someone used a paper clip to do that, a small guage wire would be better,it's only 2 pins. If you have an ohmmeter handy, you can see if the switch operates, you just have to get your head down by the brake pedal. Not the easiest thing to do.
