Thanks Bundu!

Did they only replace the engine when the defective motor/oil pump started to/did fail? Or did they willingly replace the 03 motors if under warranty?

I've been trying to figure out for the longest time if my motor was replaced, or if perhaps just the oil pump was replaced. Or maybe my 03 motor was one of the lucky ones and is fine. The truck does fall in the vin range. The PO always took it to the dealer for scheduled maintenance, but nothing on the carfax shows an engne replacement. I lost the PO number to boot.

Engines affected by the problem were replaced under warranty. Carfax is not going to report that information since it is not logged anywhere other than against the LR system.

New Tires were put on at 55,000km

I'm totally satisfied with the above...PLUS he is the first and only owner of this vehicle. I'm planning to go take a look at it sometime this week.

The only drawback is that the car has 5 small dents on the hood from the hail storm last year. If I end up getting the car, can I just get an autobody shop to fix them like a regular vehicle? or an Aluminum body needs a different or complicated type of body work?

Also, I doubt that he has done any work on the car, how much approx. will I be spending on the vehicle shortly after I purchase it?

Alright, I have a closer look at the bottom today and overall is good except I found this...anyone please shed some light if this is a concern? I used my finger to touch it and it is clear liquid with dirt, not oily. Any helps is greatly appreciated.

My Discovery II is a 2001 with 134K. But a LOT of those are highway miles as I used it for work for 5 years and I will think nothing of driving 5 hours roundtrip to go fishing on the weekend. Every time I have a new LR4 loaner for service I start thinking. But, I spend about 2 months car payments a year on my Disco and it has more character!

What I've has to do in the past 2-3 years:

1. Head gasket
2. Intake maniford gasket
3. Exhaust manifold (cracked)
4. Lots of seals and belts (@$100-250 a pop!)
5. High mileage services are expensive as well! 134K was $280.

My transfer case is starting to leak a little and I would imagine transmission work is somewhere in my future.

I am not "car person" - unusual as it might seem having grown up on a farm fixing things. But I have complete faith in my dealer's service team, and they have maintained the vehicle honestly and at market prices for 10 years.

Dont worry about it, buy it.

I bet the steering damper is leaking, not a big deal.
