Seems to me that it might be a totally different engine. Looks like a 4.0 engine

x2 on not original engine.
I'm pretty sure that is a Range Rover fan.
If I'm not mistaken the 4.6 has a slightly larger diameter air intake hose and throttle body.

How can you tell the difference the motor came with 2 intake plenums with different throttle body numbers on them and there was no power steering pump i thought that was odd

My D2 has the same fan i will check on the diameter of the 2 intakes i got with it

If that is a p38 stat than there is a possibility that this motor came out of a p38 would it be possible to have a p38 without power steering and did they come with 4.0 and 4,6 motors

I just looked up a 2002 range rover thermostat and that is what it is....now how do i tell if it is a 4.0 or 4.6 and without power steering?????

i definitely have a Bosch engine how can you tell a 4.0 from a 4.6

There may be other ways to tell, but engine ID is stamped on the block underneath one of the heads. Of course you would have to look next time you have the heads off.

I'm sure someone here knows of an easier way to tell.
