I've had issues when installed a new Interstate battery, I think the stock terminals just suck. Dielectric grease and a pair of pliers to squeeze the crap out of the terminals to clamp them down has done the trick for the last few months...

 

The felt rings are not neccesary for sealed batts like the Optimas. The gel is just another form of protection. No biggie. Sorry for any misspelling try out my iPad touch screen.

 

strangely enough keyless started working again today . . . erggg . . . well, at least it temporarily fixed itself.
