Default Keyless Entry Not Working

My original key fob for my 2001 Disco II began disintegrating and when the button covers fell out I just started using the key to open the door until I could get a replacement key fob. That was about 9 months ago.

I had just found a new fob housing and when it arrived yesterday, I switched the internal components over to the new housing and in doing so, discovered that the battery was also dead. I replaced the battery and upon trying it, the keyless doesn't work even though the red light indicator on the fob is lit when pressing it.

Is there a fuse for the keyless and if so, where do I locate it? Also, if the battery in the fob dies do I have to have the keyless reprogrammed to the vehicle since so much time has passed?

Thanks for your help.

Russell

You do not need to reprogram the FOB if your battery dies.
When you push the FOB buttons does the little red light come on?

Don't know why the fuse would be blown but I blew mine a while back changing an interior light.I think it is fuse 19. It goes with engine immobilization and other components.
