Default bcm bcu replacement.

Hello, I have a 2001 disco that had a dead battery from sitting. Also, I left some wet gear in there for a week which steamed up the windows. so, I replaced the battery attempted to start and here is what followed.
No engine crank, no power seats, no power windows, no power locks. I replaced body control module with used module... alarm went off still no engine crank but all power accessories now work.
bought nanocom to program bcm. nanocom say can't communicate with valeo ecu. I assume immobilized.
So, I bought another BCM. Please somebody give me a link to a step by step idiot proof install for BCM so I don't immobilize again. Thanks

Default BCM synced now... I think?

BCM synced now... I think? I turned the key to position 2 and left it for 15 minutes. when I came back I turned the key it cranked and it fired right up. then it it promptly died 3 seconds later. i turned it off and back on it would run for a second or two and then die. I got on the nanocom and it linked to the bcm. I set the key code and tested the RF. it sensed the key. but the key plip won't unlock or lock the door. I will still replace the bcm that is in there as it is higher miles than my cluster. any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you've got it sorted. Are you just wanting to put the original BCU back in? You should be able to just plug it back in and wait the 15 minutes for communication to happen. Once that happens you should be able to disarm the system by unlocking the drivers' door with the key, or using the remote. If that doesn't work try the EKA code of 1515.

Then if needed you should be able to sync the ECM/BCU security code, and your remotes if needed.

Not quite sorted. It still won't stay running and remote doesn't work.
I think the original is fried since the seats and windows wouldn't work.
I bought a second lower mile valeo bcu, but, I want to get the first one running so I don't lock up / immobilize the second one also.
I have a nanocom but can't find instructions to use it for this task.

Under the ECM menu, there should be an option to learn the BCU security code. That should allow it to stay running. I don't have a D2 anymore, so I cannot get you any screenshots.

Default she's runnin

the learn security code said "function terminated" when tried it but it may be I tried it once already??
changed eka to 1515... still wouldn't run.
then finally successfully synced the remote... still wouldn't run.
locked unlocked several times... still wouldn't run.
luckily i wrote down the original eka code.
put in the original eka code... runs like a champ.
Now I get to do it all over again with the second valeo bcu with compatible miles. Thanks Jafir for the hints.

Awesome glad it's working. I didn't mean to change the eka, I just meant try entering it into the door lock. I forgot that nanocom can see it.

Ok. I am going to replace the BCM with a compatible milage bcm to stop the blinking and to not add undriven additional miles to my odometer.
If any one has a good list of steps I'd love to hear it. I would love to not do the trial and error swap.
Here's the plan:
1. unlock/dissable alarm
2. Clamp/depress hood pin
3. disconnect battery
4. short battery cables to remove latent power from system
5. remove and replace BCMs
6. reconnect Battery
7. cycle key to position 2 (run position) for two minutes to resync the bcm
8. unlock with remote
9. attempt to start
10. turn off move key position 2
11. plug in nanocom
12. in valeo menu sync bcu to odometer
13. drive away happy
Please let me know if this sounds complete.

Hi, I am having pretty much the exact same issue. Trying to install anther ECU. nothing I try is working.
I also got the "learn security code function terminated" when I tried with my nanocom.
Truck turns over but will not start.

I know this is an old thread, thanks for any help.
