Belt Squeak

Belt Squeak
I just had a new belt put on and in the morning it would squeal for just a minute then calm down. When I took it in to have it serviced the mechanic put some kind of belt spray on the belt. Well let just say that did not work because now it has amplified the problem. It squeals constantly when the air conditioner is turned on. I've tried putting baby powder on the belt but it doesn't work. Any suggestions?
TIA

RE: Belt Squeak
Sparky,
There really isn't much to test on a tensioner. I would suggest you go buy a new one along with a idler pulley and you'll be fine.
By the way, never let anyone put belt dressing on a noisy belt, it will build up a film on the pulleys that will come back and haunt you for years.
