How does this one look:

Or is the Gold Series enough?

One thing you all need to realize is, no matter what the product, one company can make many parts all with different brand names and none of them will be the same. They are just contracted to build, in this case, batteries and the chances of them being the same as any of the others they build is few and far between.

I have heard too many horror stories about optima.

I too have heard horror stories about Optima's, and I think they are WAY overpriced and over rated, a good name brand battery can be had for around $100 and it will do 98% of what the above average person will do with a car battery, including running a winch.

I was having the same thoughts on price et al, but ultimately went with the Optima Yellow Top. Yes, it's expensive...yes, you could probably find a comparable battery for less, but from my experience, the Optimas are far and away the best, especially if you're going to move to a dual-battery setup. Just my 2 cents...

Well for starters, most of the Odyssey batteries are deep cycle batteries, Sears are not. Anyone using, truely using their battery for winching and tons of electrical components will tell you there is no comparison.
The Odyssey will also go up to 1090 CCA, with 200 minutes of reserve, more then any Sears battery.
All that being said, I still run dual Yellow Tops for my needs with no failures.
