The Texaco-GM anti-freeze collaboration disaster as I refer to it!
Dex-Cool has now been reformulated more times than I can count...
Yes, many of the earlier formulations were problematic; being very sensitive to oxidation and PH.
Around the time that the Dex-Cool Class Action Lawsuit against GM was underway... major reformulations were being tested in order to try and salvage the name "Dex-Cool".
Ever since then, the more current formulations of Dex-Cool perform well and do not cause the multitude of leaks and parts failures that originally ensued.
There is no harm in using Dex-Cool now-a-days... The early formulations are LONG-Gone!
In regard to "Life-Time" fluids... Do yourself a favor and service the vehicle fluids, so that the vehicle will actually last.
If you are leasing a vehicle and do not intend to buy it... then let the fluids destroy the engine like GM intends for you to do.
