Not always necessary to machine the heads, but it is necessary to have them inspected by machine shop that knows what they are doing, for wear to valve guides, for warping of heads, etc. Not doing such, is a risk of possibly having to do job again sooner than laterer. Luck doesn't always shine on us all.

that's why i checked them with my trusty piece of 1/2 plate glass.
And it was i risk i was willing to take at the time.
it broke down on Friday night and had to be running Monday morning.
know i have a spare set of machines head waiting to go on, but why?
