Default Best method to flush engine?

I have the Mann w950/4 filter on its way and see Mike's instruction call for an engine flush before changing oil. What's the best way on a D2?

I use Amsoil Flush before changing my oil each time.

Ok guys, the instructions say for engines over 50k miles to remove and clean out the oil pan and screen after the flush? Is this really necessary?

I did that when we did the head gaskets at 150k, wasn't that dirty.

wait you will have to pull the front cover for something sooner or latter and will have to drop the pan then.
I run two ounces of kerosene in my oil the day before I change it out.
Which is what is in most of the over counter flushes, you want to flush your engine over a slow period of time.
That is the problem with some of the over the counter stuff, it doesn't break the sludge down and back to oil, it breaks it free which cause blocked oil return and pickups. JMHO

Dump a bottle of seafoam in the oil a day before your oil change

If you change your oil every 3-4k miles you shouldn't ever have to use any pre cleaner to flush the gunk out.

that's fine if you have owned the truck since new, but if you bought it used and have not open the engine it hard to tell if you have caked in there.

Thanks for the input guys. I just bought this D2 a couple of thousand miles after the head gaskets and cooling system were replaced. I have no clue about the previous care of the car so I changed out the 5w30 with rotella 15w40 and put in a new mann big boy filter on. A few hundred miles later I added the GUNK engine flush and let her idle for the 5 minutes, then drained. Damn oil looked as good as it was when I put it in aside from the red tint the gunk added. I'll chalk that up as meaning she's nice and clean inside. Good to know!
