Default Best OBDII Scanner for the money

Any suggestions, I know places like Autozone do this for free but would rather have my own. Also I see some saying they are a readers and some say they are a scanner what exactly is the difference between the two. I want one I can also reset the check engine lights.

you want one that reads live data and can freeze the data. If you have a HF nearby:

Go to , http://www.canobd2.com/Products/Tools.aspx
readup on their different scanners, notice the retail prices then go buy the one you want for your truck from Amazon.com.
None of these will read ABS codes on our trucks, but you can always buy a cheap 3 Amigo's scanner for around $199.

I would spring for the ScanGauageII. It reads live data, will display all your error codes and reset your check engine light. You leave it plugged in all the time. Its about $130 on eBay. You can even set the back-light on the ScanGuageII to green to match your instrument display.
But you can get a OBDII code reader for about $40 - $80.
The best part about it is you can monitor your coolant temp all the time easily from your dash.

If you live in the Midwest near Miejer. They now have a OBDII reader and oil pressure gauge for $40 and $60. And its Actron brand which is decent.
