Are there any tricks to fitting a pump? I’ve got good sockets spanners and such but haven’t worked on cars much , so not wanting to screw this up.

Watch that video gecko posted and like I said at one point or another, pay very close attention to torque specs. Don’t use RTV either. If you saw in my build thread when I did the throttle body heater, there was a bunch of crap in there that I’m pretty sure was RTV debris that circulated through the system. There is a spray on gasket sealer that should work well and the new pump should come with a new gasket.

Also be sure to clean the engine front cover VERY well of any old gasket material. This will ensure a good mating surface and keep it from leaking in the future.

Oh yeah, be prepared: the first time you bleed the system in a Disco, it will drive you nuts. Be patient, you 50/50 green stuff and flush it really well.

I finally received mine after a month's wait. Haven't had a chance to install yet with all the rain we've been having in sfbay though.

HAHAHHAHA!! I had the same problem when I was trying to install mine last year around this time. It took me almost two weeks to do the job because it kept raining and I had to stop.
